Tornado Update

Posted by Peter Goodwin on

Thanks to you, we have raised over $20k in support of the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.

Words can't describe how thankful we are for each of you who have helped and supported our wonderful city.

There is still much to be done, but we want to take a moment to shed some light on what has been happening in East Nashville, Cookeville, Mt. Juliet, Donelson and the areas of Putnam county.

tornado damage Tennessee support community give back

Thousands of people came from all over the country in the past week to help clean up, cut down, pass out water and food, and give a complete stranger a hug.

We have seen such a huge wave of volunteers step in, that organizations in Nashville even felt the need to begin turning people away. We are so freakin’ proud of our city!

Updates:

  • 51 of the 116 roads that were initially closed have now been cleared.
  • There are only 1,800 people without power down from the 50,000 people without power at the storm’s peak. (Thanks, Nashville Electric Service!)
  • In Cookeville, 82 people being treated in the hospital with injuries are getting their medical bills completely paid for.
